As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of

humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.

Telephone emerged since Bell thought about the transformation between the

electric current and the sonic waves; the advent of cell-phone was due to

scientists’ thinking about radio waves; and computer appeared because

programmers thought about the logical programs. Therefore, technology

develops on account of people’s thinking. In certain ways, technology’s

development stimulates people to think more deeply instead of hindering people

from thinking.

Though most of technologies help people solve problems, not all technologies

help people with thinking. Refrigerators, for instance, solve the problem that food

easily decomposes in ordinary temperature; air conditioner, for example, help

people to pass the terribly hot summer; elevators, transporting people up and

down, save a large amount of energy of people. Consequently, high-tech products

provide people with great convenience but not spoil people to become indolent to

think. It is ridiculous to say that human’s abilities of thinking will surely

deteriorate because of the developments of technology. On the contrary,

technology developments, increasingly solving trivial problems in daily life, allow

people to spent more time and energy to think about something more important

and complicated. Moreover, greatly benefited from technology, people won’t be

content with the current situation and will rack their brains to create innovative

high-tech products; meanwhile, they bring their abilities of thinking into full play.

Can an undergraduate student do well in his or her graduation dissertation

relying on the internet without adding his or her own ides? Can a parent educate

his or her children well only depending on a certain high-tech product? Can a

person have a wonderful relationship only with the help of the technology? The

answer must be “No!” Because technology cannot solve everything and people

still need to use their brains to achieve their dreams and make a good living. A

calculator, for example, can help me with complex arithmetic problems but the

geometry ones. Maybe I can search the answers of mathematics problem on the

internet, but I will never understand the ways to solve those problems. Thus,

independent thinking is essential to everyone and its place will never be taken by

technology. Furthermore, one can only improve and perfect his or her ability by

thinking on his or her own.

All in all, high-tech products, invented by human, are impossible to be

obstacle to the human evolution. They do simplify people’s daily lives, and solve

numerous problems, however, they do not block people’s thinking. Definitely, as

the most intelligent species on the earth, human being will keep on enriching their

wisdom.
